The 18th Foundation Day of Primeasia University Observed

The 18th Foundation Day of Primeasia University was celebrated on Saturday, October 02, 2021 at 11:00 am at the IQAC Conference Hall of the University. Prof. Dr. Mesbah Kamal, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor (Acting) presided over the program while Mr. AKM Mozammel Haque, MP, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh participated virtually as the Chief Guest. Mr. Md. Atiqul Islam, MAYOR, Dhaka North City Corporation was present at the Guest of Honor of the Opening Session and Barrister Biplab Barua, Special Assistant to the Honorable Prime Minister, Prime Minister’s Office also present as the Guest of Honor of 2 nd Session.
Prof. Dr. Liaquat Ali, Founder Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) delivered the Foundation Day Address on “Social Engagement in Health: Lessons from the Covid-19 Pandemic” in the morning session.
Speaking as the Chief guest, the Hon'ble Minister for Liberation War Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh said, “Primeasia University is one of the renowned universities among other private universities. As per I know the quality of education here is also satisfactory. However, the quality of education is lagging behind the development in our country. Need to work in this place. I hope Primeasia University will work to build the next generation. Because in a competitive world, you have to survive with qualifications.”
Addressing the students of Primeasia University, the Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Mr. Md. Atiqul Islam said, “We do not want quantity students, we want quality students. If the students of Primeasia University want to do an internship from City Corporation, they will be given the opportunity. Besides studying, they have to keep their house and environment clean and tidy. The city of Dhaka has developed in an unplanned manner. The young generation has to fight against those who are land grabbers, occupying canals, and unplanned urbanization. The city corporation will launch a campaign next month against those who have fallen the sewer line waste into lake in elite areas. The community will be involved in these activities.”
Mr. Biplab Barua, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister and Office Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, was present as the Guest of Honor at the second session and wished success to Primeasia University. He expects under the leadership of proficient Vice-Chancellor, the University will go ahead in education and research. He also urged to students to believe in the spirit of liberation war and independence of Bangladesh. And, special thanked to university authority to push back founding anniversary program to October from mourning August.
Vice-Chancellor (Acting) of the University Prof. Dr. Mesbah Kamal said in the President’s speech; "We have been able to celebrate the Foundation Day with the cooperation of all. I would like to thank everyone concerned for this. Originally our founding anniversary was August 26 (2003). But with the sad August in mind, we pushed it back. It is an expression of our respect for the Father of the Nation and his family. We are working to make Primeasia a world class university. At the same time, we want to provide opportunities for higher education to marginalized people. For this, for the first time in the country, we are offering scholarships to Marginal Communities (Indigenous/ Ethnic Peoples, Dalit /Harijan Communities, Tea-Workers, Transgender and Bede/River Gypsies) as well as freedom fighter families on 80% to 100% tuition fees. If anyone from City Corporation wants to come here to study, they will also be offered a 100% scholarship.” He also said, “We still have to assemble a lot of manpower from India and Sri Lanka in the garment sector. We want to contribute to this space by improving the curriculum of our Textile Engineering Department. In this regard, we will consult with DNCC mayor Mr. Atiqul Islam the champion of the garment sector.”
Mr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Honourable Chairman, Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. Abdul Momin Chowdhury, First Vice-Chancellor of PaU, Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Former Vice-Chancellor of the University, Mr. Sayed Hasan Imam, Actor, Film Director, Television Director delivered virtual greetings in the program. Mr. Md. Raihan Azad, Vice-Chairman, Board of Trustees delivered the Welcome Address in the program.
Mr. Raihan Azad, Vice Chairman, Board of Trustees of the University, in his congratulatory speech on the occasion of the founding anniversary, said: “We want to send skilled students abroad those who can bring remittances for the country. As per the instructions of the government and the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC), we also took initiative in the 300 feet area of Purbachal to build the main campus. But because of Corona, it has been delayed a bit. We will take initiative again soon.” Elaborating on the contribution of Dhaka North City Mayor in the garment sector, he said, “After the collapse of Rana Plaza, there was a massive decline in the garment sector. But the mayor has contacted foreign countries to revive foreign investment in the garment sector. His contribution to the RMG sector is unparalleled.”
In the second session of the day, a pleasant cultural program was organized by the Cultural Club of the University. Renowned music artist of Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Dean of the School of Business, Prime Asia University. Nasheed Kamal, Vice-Chancellor of the University (nominated) Professor. Md. Nurunnabi Mola, all deans, department heads and administrative heads were present. In addition, all teachers, officials and students were present at the virtual event.
